The Northern Institute of Technology is located in Hamburg, Germany's second largest city. Hamburg is also called "The gate to the world". And that's exactly what NIT offers: And ambitious Master Program that opens a door to global companies, to leadership positions, and thus to world of groundbreaking opportunities. In two years, students earn an MBA in Technology Management of NIT and a Master of Science of its partner Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). The Technology Management Program combines one out of twelve different TUHH Master of Science courses in Engineering with the NIT MBA Program in Law & Management. In addition to a profound engineering and management knowledge, Management Soft Skills, and an internship with one of our international sponsors, are also part of the education at the NIT.General RequirementsAll applicants must submit* Application Form for TUHH and NIT (the same form)* Curriculum Vitae* Statement of Purpose* Study Certificates and Transcripts* Scores of the GRE General Testo Verbal Ability 500o Quantitative Ability 750o Analytical Ability 750 / Analytical Writing 4.0* Proof of English proficiency in form of a TOEFL or IELTS test scoreo A minimum paper-based TOEFL score of 600 (computer based250) or an IELTS score of 7.0* Two Letters of RecommendationScholarship offersLinked to leading industry, the NIT offers scholarships for highly motivated and outstanding individuals. When you apply to the NIT you will automatically be considered for a scholarship. In the past, nearly all NIT students received a scholarship. Some of the industry specific scholarships are listed below. When applying, please indicate in your Statement of Purpose, as described in the admission procedure, which scholarship you would like to be considered for. Scholarships are granted by global companies such as "Airbus", "DaimlerChrysler", "Siemens" and "ThyssenKrupp" and by small and medium enterprises, the so called "Mittelstand". These "SMEs", many of them in the globalization phase, are the backbone of German industry. Please be sure to check their scholarship offers carefully too. For information about scholarships on offer only contact NIT and not the sponsoring companies directly. Selection is handled by TUHH and NIT alone. An NIT scholarship (12,000.- EURO per year) covers all tuition for the Global Engineering Program, but not accommodation.Additional scholarships (3,000.- EURO per year) cover the cost of campus accommodation and are available through the NIT.Application DeadlinesThe NIT Global Engineering Program starts every year at the end of August with an intensive German language and culture course at the Goethe-Institut in Bremen. The deadline of application for the Global Engineering Program at the NIT in combination with one of the master’s degree courses at TUHH is February 28th. PhD in Control of Unmanned Vehicles-Virginia Tech, USA, 15/5/06

The Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering at Virginia Tech is currently looking for Ph.D. students to join the exciting research in Virginia Center for Autonomous Systems (VaCAS). VaCAS is an interdisciplinary research center between the departments of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The main goals of the center are to develop theory and technology that will support autonomous coordination within heterogeneous teams of unmanned vehicles. The students will have the oppurtunity to work on a number of research projects related to autonomous systems, like visual guidance and control of autonomous vehicles, including air, ground, and marine vehicles, nonlinear adaptive systems, control of networks of vehicles, etc. The students will also participate in research projects in the Nonlinear Systems Lab (NSL). The NSL is co-directed by AOE professors Dr. Naira Hovakimyan and Dr. Craig Woolsey. The research at Nonlinear Systems Laboratory is focussed on theoretical, numerical, and experimental investigation of nonlinear system dynamics and control. More details can be found at http://www.aoe.vt.edu/research/groups/nsl/Prospective students should have a strong interest and background in the fields of mathematical control theory, dynamical systems, control engineering and computation. Students must apply to the PhD program and comply with the graduate school application requirements provided at http://www.grads.vt.eduThe graduate school deadline is May 15, 2006 but it is in the best interest to submit all required material as early as possible.
